Monster Jam 2013

We went with a bunch of friends to Monster Jam at the Rose Garden this weekend. Ethan and I took the Max down early for the Pit Party. He likes the train and liked wearing his head phones for most of the afternoon.

I grabbed a couple shots of the arena before we headed down stairs.

Ethan was pretty quiet, but I got him to stand next to some of the trucks. Bobby was pretty happy to be there of course.

We took a few pictures of all the boys next to Grave Digger.

Big hugs for good friends.

We stood in line and got autographs from the drivers of Double Trouble and Captain USA.

Here's the Blanchet family with Destroyer.

And DJ and Nancy.

At the end of the Pit Party, the drivers left and we got some pictures on Mohawk Warrior's couch.

Silly boys headed upstairs to grab some lunch.

We found our seats and we're ready for action.

Lots of jumping. You'd be surprised how high those trucks can get.

They had some quad races to give the drivers a break I think.

They started with Chicago style racing, 1 lap, head to head, winner advances.

Freestyle was after the intermission. Out of the 8 trucks competing, I think 3 were able to drive off under their own power after the freestyle. They go for broke in the last show.

Play'n for Keeps busted a wheel clean off. He also had a lot more body at the beginning of the event.

Amazingly, he was able to pull out of this without rolling the truck. He did blow a tire off the rim though.

Monster Mutt got the biggest air. Maybe it was the tail.

Grave Digger was up last in the freestyle and took the jumps at a slight angle. That and the fact that he didn't need the front loader to haul him off is perhaps why he took the prize.

It was a lot of fun. We got to see some pretty cool trucks and a some monster carnage. And I managed to take 648 pictures. They go quick at 3 pics per second.

When I put Ethan to bed, I asked him if he wanted to go again next year. You'll never guess what he said. He said "I like the hockey game better". Ha Ha. He did say he had fun today.
